Cause a Ripple
I’m often asked how Cause a Ripple came to be. It happened the way most special things do -- quite unexpectedly.
It was early one Sunday morning and the thought 808 kept going through my mind. It took me a few minutes to realize that it was the worship time at a nearby church. It had been a very long time since I had gone to any church and I had never gone to this one. But, that morning I decided to listen to that little voice inside of me.
As I walked through the doors, I was greeted and given a stone. Feeling perplexed, I sat and waited for what would happen next. The sermon was about how each of us "creates a ripple" in life, by everything we do and say. We all have the capacity to influence people, in either a good or bad way; it is a choice each of us makes.
At the end of the service, we were given the opportunity to drop the stone into a pool of water and watch the ripples that it created.
Since then, I’ve been inspired to recognize those who have made a difference. The stone is a symbol of all they have done, a simple reminder of the positive ripples they’ve created.
And now you, too, can give this symbolic gift to the important people in your life. Parents, teachers, clergy, veterans, first responders, family and friends. The list is endless.
Before I close, I'd like to introduce the newest member of the Cause a Ripple family -- my dog Ripple. This beautiful rescue has enriched my life in so many ways, causing many positive ripples!
May God bless you, Sharon
